The trust was formed on 1st October 2017 and since then has been responsible for running a family of nine hospitals across six separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.
From 1st April 2020 a tenth hospital – North Manchester General Hospital – has taken the first step in joining the MFT group through a Management Agreement.
The trust is the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England.
It is also the largest single provider of specialist services in North West England, it's expected to become the lead provider for further sub-specialist services as part of the Manchester Single Hospital Service programme.
