The 12 Charities of Christmas
23 December 2021
This year, Holt Doctors wanted to run a competition to help raise funds for 12 NHS charities, so they could continue with their important work, making a positive impact on people’s lives and communities.
We got the public to vote and donate £2 to their favourite NHS charity. At the end of the competition, the charity that received the most donations receives an additional £1000 from Holt Doctors, the charity that comes 2nd place receives an extra £500!
We’re very excited to announce the results of the 12 Charities of Christmas competition!
All the NHS charities raised a whopping £1,312!
The charity that received the highest number of votes, coming first place with £658 is Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Charitable Funds.
Congratulations and well done! The charity will be receiving £1000 from Holt, which will take the total to £1,658 and will go towards the Serenity Suite Appeal - a purpose-built area for bereaved parents to spend some time with their little one and grieve in peace and dignity.
Matt Proctor and Rhian Morris, Specialist Midwives for Bereavement Services at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said:
On behalf of DBTH Charity, we would like to say a huge thank you to Holt Doctors for running such an ingenious charity campaign this year which has benefitted ourselves and numerous other charities. We’d also like to thank everyone who voted for our Serenity Suite fundraiser and we were overjoyed to see it take the top prize of £1,000!
The funds will go towards creating a dedicated, serene and comforting space for bereaved parents who have experienced the loss of a child at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The donation from Holt, along with everyone’s pledges and votes will help us to make this suite a reality which will be a great comfort to local families through hard times.
Congratulations to the runner-up, Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, who raised £151, they will be receiving £500 from Holt, taking the total to £651, this will help the charity to continue to improve patient care, provide specialist training facilities and state-of-the-art equipment.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Holt Doctors for hosting their ‘12 Charities of Christmas’ competition. It’s such a brilliant idea and has been a wonderful way for NHS charities like us to showcase the amazing projects we are fundraising for. Thank you to everyone who cast their vote by donating. It’s been exciting to see us climb the leader board and to win a top prize is an extra special Christmas present. All the funds raised will boost our Christmas appeal, which this year is raising money to fund the refurbishment of the Children’s Ward outdoor play area at Rotherham Hospital.
At random we also selected one of the generous people who donated to the NHS charities. By voting for their favourite NHS charity, they were in with a chance of winning a chocolate hamper from Hotel Chocolat!
We now have a WINNER - Congratulations to Lorraine Latibeaudiere for winning the Hotel Chocolat Christmas hamper!
I saw the competition on Facebook and I really wanted to get involved and donate, I think it's important to support our local charities, especially the NHS - thank you so much for the chocolate hamper, it looks delicious! - Lorraine
We would like to thank everybody who donated and got involved.
We hope that you enjoyed participating as much as we enjoyed conducting the competition, and we look forward to organising many more such competitions - we hope everybody has a great Christmas and Happy New Year!
