Permanent recruitment – Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust
Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust were looking to make extensive savings on their medical locum spend and approached Holt Doctors permanent recruitment division to recruit several specialty doctors in Emergency Medicine on a permanent basis.
Firstly, a Client Manager within the permanent recruitment team was appointed to the Trust to provide a single point of contact and provide on-going support on a day-to-day basis. Initial client meetings ensured all stakeholders at the Trust were aware of the recruitment procedures and timescales, with potential interview dates provisionally agreed. In-depth job descriptions and person specifications were obtained to ensure the Trust’s criteria was matched as closely as possible. The team also made several recommendations based on our substantial experience on how to make the recruitment process more efficient, including, ways of speeding up the decision making process and ensuring that the salaries on offer were in line with the market.
A Trust information pack was created for potential candidates and a dedicated page on our website was set up to support the recruitment process. Targeted e-shots promoting the Trust’s vacancies were sent out to our extensive database of agency workers with all responses processed and thoroughly vetted by our permanent recruitment team in line with the Trust’s requirements.
Face-to-face or Skype interviews were then set up for the Trust by the team. Feedback following the interviews was taken from both the doctor and the Trust which enabled us to continually review the recruitment process in line with any changing demands.
Overseas recruitment drive
In addition, our team organised an international recruitment drive to UAE – walk-in interviews were set up in three key locations. Marketing campaigns organised by Holt Doctors utilised local media channels helped to promote the interview sessions in the region for the Trust. A consultant from the hospital travelled with members of our permanent recruitment team, which helped to create buy in from the doctor interviewed and also enabled the Trust to react quickly to guarantee these highly sought after candidates. Our team ensured additional support with all visa forms and relocation was also provided to the doctors where requested, i.e. identifying suitable accommodation/schools etc.
As of January 2014 – within only 3 months of starting the process 9 permanent job offers had been made by the Trust to middle grade A&E doctors proposed by Holt Doctors.
