This Years' Teams and their Charities they are competing for;

Desk Theme; Gingerbread House

Who are They; Contract Management Team

Charity; Save the Children

“We have chosen to support Save the Children this Christmas. This charity provides support for Children all over the world and is currently helping to provide support to children in Yemen, who are facing one of the worst humanitarian crises ever. Half of the population is facing a food crisis and many more need clean water and medical care. Save the Children has already provided food to 140,000 children and treated more than 78,000 children for malnutrition since the start of the crisis but there is so much more that can be done.”

Desk Theme; Santa’s Grotto

Who are They; Managed Service Team

Charity; British Lung Foundation

“We have chosen the British Lung Foundation as two members of our team have recently lost family members to COPD. An estimated 1.2 million people are living with diagnosed COPD, which makes COPD the second most common lung disease in the UK. The number of people who have ever had a diagnosis of COPD has increased by 27% in the last decade, which could mean that more undiagnosed cases are being found, or the disease is becoming more common. We feel this is a Charity that doesn’t get much publicity and would like to raise money and generate awareness this Christmas.”

Desk Theme; Polar Express

Who are They; Acute, Regional and Anaesthetics

Charity; Leeds Children’s Heart Surgery Fund

“This Christmas, we will be supporting the Leeds Children's Heart Surgery Fund. This is especially important to us as one of our team members' children is having heart surgery that is supported by this trust. The charity raises money to help the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit at the General Infirmary provide care for its patients and families. More than 40% of the patients who have an operation need long-term care, and each year 17,500 babies, children and adults pass through the unit. The trust provides valuable equipment, resources and research, as well as providing a support service for both the patients and their families along the way.”

Desk Theme; Nightmare before Christmas

Who are They; Accounts, Revalidation, Permanent Recruitment and Administration

Charity; Aidan’s Elephants

“Our team has chosen Aidan’s Elephants as our charity. This charity supports families with the loss of a child and one of the ways in which help is by providing by memory boxes. These are gender-neutral, non-religious and inclusive for every family who has lost a child, no matter their gestation or age. Each box features the words "Always Remembered, Always Loved...” across the top, along with a little Aidan's Elephant and orange balloon. This charity is important to us as one of our team members family has been personally affected by the loss of their child. Aidan’s Elephants is dedicated to help families such as these cope, by providing amazing support and care.

Desk Theme; Ice Queens

Who are They; Acute and Consultants

Charity; The British Heart Foundation

“Our team is supporting The British Heart Foundation this Christmas. Everyone has a heart and sadly 1 in 4 people in the UK die from heart and circulatory diseases. The charities’ research has helped to provide machines that can restart hearts, the ability to fix arteries in tiny babies, the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with, and so much more. These breakthroughs are just a ‘promise of more cures and treatments to come.’ We want to do what we can to provide funding for the ever so important research and help protect the people we love.”

Desk Theme; Santa’s Fallen Toy Sack

Who are They; GP’s, Acute and Paediatrics

Charity; Aidan’s Elephants

“We have chosen Aidan’s elephants as our charity. The organisation is committed to ensuring that families, who have lost a child of any gestation or age, receive outstanding levels of care and support. Locally, its primary role is donating handmade Memory Boxes, Recognition of Life Certificates and other memorial keepsakes to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, in addition to providing funding for Midwife Bereavement Training, the ‘Sunbeam’ Bereavement Suite and specialist equipment. We chose this charity as not only is an amazing cause, but has helped and supported family and friends affected by baby loss. We want to continue to support and raise money for this charity.”

Desk Theme; 12 Days of Christmas

Who are They; A&E and Acute

Charity; Mind

“We have chosen to support Mind this Christmas. The majority of our team have had experience with family members suffering from depression, OCD, or other issues that affect our mental health. As it is not an illness that can be visibly seen, we feel it is sometimes overlooked, but still vitally important to be recognised and people suffering from the vast range of conditions need more support. Also, as the volume of mental health cases increases, A&E departments are having to cope with the growing pressures. Hospitals need a dedicated crisis team to support the increasing number of mental health patients and to reduce the strain on A&E. Mental Health has had an effect on all our lives, and more awareness of the illness will break the taboo.”

Help us support all these charities this Christmas by voting in our competition.
